Willdan Engineering is seeking qualified applications for the position of Assistant Engineer I/ Assistant Engineer II to fill and support contract staff augmentation roles. This is an amazing opportunity to join a hard-working, results-driven professional team and provide city engineering services to client agencies throughout Ventura County and northern LA County. This opening is for an early-career technical role.

We are looking for a forward-thinking individual to assist with a variety of engineering projects to perform with increasing independence and responsibility. The accomplished engineering professional should be team oriented, be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and will be engaged in assisting in all aspects of city engineering including capital improvement program execution, land development conditioning and review and day to day city operations such as encroachment permitting, response to citizen requests and other assignments as may arise in support of providing quality services to each client agency.

Primary responsibilities include:
• Performs professional and technical level engineering duties in support of the client city’s engineering/public works services and activities.
• Responds to questions and inquiries from the public, developers, contractors, engineering professionals, and client agency staff regarding engineering and development projects.
• Prepares a variety of engineering reports, studies, and technical documentation and correspondence related to assigned projects and other specialized studies; utilizes specialized engineering applications, databases, programs, and graphics.
• Coordinates assigned activities with consultants, engineers, developers, contractors, other client city departments and divisions, and outside agencies.
• Coordinates responses to inquiries concerning engineering opportunities, traffic safety and public safety, and reviews traffic control plans.
• Review/approve/issue encroachment permits.
• Performs technical review of land development construction documents.
Key Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field
• Have two or more years of progressively responsible professional engineering experience.
• Posses a valid Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification and readying to sit for licensure as a Professional Engineer within the next two years.
• Possess exceptional teamwork and interpersonal skills
• Be able to independently perform moderately complex professional engineering work, computations, and review design plans
• Possess excellent problem-solving skills; be able to work in a deadline driven environment, and effectively manage competing priorities
