VENTURA COUNTY, PUBLIC WORKS AGENCY INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR: Water Resources Specialist I-II-III-IV    

Water Resources Specialists perform technical hydrographic/water quality office and/or field activities including monitoring, collecting, analyzing, and evaluating hydrologic/water quality data that is used in studies and for the purpose of planning, hydraulic design, flood control implementation, water resources programs and regulatory compliance. In addition, the Water Resource Specialist (WRS) IV leads activities of lower level WRS and performs the most complex technical duties. There are currently two (2) vacancies in Watershed Protection in the Public Works Agency:

Water Resources Specialist IV (Hydrography) - will perform lead oversight of field staff and field projects, including maintaining the ALERT (Automated Local Evaluation in Real-Time) and/or GOES (Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite) telemetry equipment, purchasing and repairing parts, troubleshooting, and reviewing records. May be filled at a lower WRS level, depending upon qualifications

Water Resources Specialist III (Groundwater) - will perform well permit inspections, water quality sampling, water level measurements, and maintain groundwater database and geographical information systems (GIS). May be filled at the WRS II level, depending upon qualifications.

The ideal candidate will be a team player who can also work independently and effectively in remote field sites and under adverse weather conditions. This candidate will be knowledgeable of hydrology, water quality/quantity data collection, basic construction methods, electronics, and have a working ability to use hand and power tools - and will have experience working in the field with monitoring equipment. Experience in data analysis and report writing is important. Additionally, the person will be skilled in the use of MS Office applications and software used in hydrology, water quality monitoring, and/or mapping (GIS).

APPROXIMATE SALARIES:

Water Resources Specialist I: $23.88 - $33.49 hourly

Water Resources Specialist II: $26.83 - $37.66 hourly

Water Resources Specialist III: $29.49 - $41.36 hourly

Water Resources Specialist IV: $33.53 - $47.05 hourly
