Please join us for our meeting on Thursday, October 13, 2022, from 11:30 am to 1:15 pm (Virtual Program begins at 12:15 pm), for "Building Resiliency through Hybrid Microgrids".
Our speaker, Andrew Grubb, PE, Principal Civil Engineer for the City of Camarillo’s Capital Projects Division, will present the City of Camarillo’s Hybrid Microgrid Project currently in design. Andrew will discuss the key assumptions, decision points, and lessons learned as the City developed the project across multiple facilities from a feasibility study to a 30% design level.
The project will combine solar, battery storage, and diesel generation to create a hybrid microgrid system that can supply power for short-term outages using solar and battery storage, preserving the backup diesel generators when needed for long-term power outages. This hybrid approach will increase the City’s resilience to respond during a natural disaster while reducing its carbon footprint and provide ongoing utility bill savings by striving to achieve zero net energy from the power grid.
